The short version
WUKO is a shipping product, and it is also where some ideas get tested in the open. Two preprints describe how he is built and why those choices were made. Both are free to read, archived with a DOI, and written about the app you can actually download — not a prototype.
Presence You Can Ignore: Engineering Non-Intrusion in a Shipping Desktop Companion
PREPRINT · 17 SEPTEMBER 2026
How a companion earns the right to sit on your screen all day: interruption and habituation, variable-time scheduling, and the design rationale for a presence that can be ignored without penalty.

Mortal Software: Six Invariants for a Companion Built on Consequence
PREPRINT · 26 JULY 2026
Generative software is normally regenerable, forgiving and stateless. This one is built on the opposite premises, and formalises six of them: artefacts seed-locked so regeneration is unrepresentable rather than merely discouraged, an identity hashed from the first day's conversation so two installs diverge immediately, a memory that demotes rather than deletes when its referent vanishes, and a record of the relationship that shows an empty day as absence instead of synthesising one.

Citing this work
Cite the DOI rather than this page — it resolves permanently and survives anything that happens to the site. Both papers are published by LFM Labs; the Zenodo record for each carries the full citation.
